Teruko Collings' Obituary
Terry (Teruko Teuri) Collings, wife of Billy Glen Collings, loving mother to four devoted children, a generous, warm, and affectionate grandmother to eleven and great-grandmother to five, passed peacefully on February 24, 2018. Terry will always be remembered for her boundless love, welcoming home, and big hugs. Accompanying many memories of vacations, camping trips, holidays, and visits with Terry at home, are the home cooked meals that crisscrossed her Japanese heritage and her American experience. Nothing spoke more of her selflessness than her desire to cook up a storm, enough to feed an army, and share her home with family and friends. An avid card player, casino enthusiast, and gardener, Terry loved and lived life to the fullest.
Terry was born on January 5, 1936 and raised in Hokkaido, Japan. She married Billy on October 16, 1956 and became a US citizan on February 6, 1958. After an overseas assignment in Germany, she returned to the US where she and Billy settled in Puyallup.
Teruko is predeceased by her loving husband Billy and beloved daughter Betty Smyth. She is survived by her children Don and wife Beth, Randy and his wife Christine, and Claudia Price and her husband Todd, and her grandchildren, Joshua, Olivia, Tanner, Savannah, Aron, Kelcie, Sierra, Ashley, Amanda, Brandon, and Tara along with her five great-grandchildren Arilynn, Dante, Dawson, Adeline, and Jason. She will be missed by many, among them Terry's friend of 58 years, Sue Brooks.
A Memorial Service celebrating the life of Terry will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, March 10, 2018 at the First Presbyterian Church, 412 West Pioneer, Puyallup. All are welcome to remember this lovely and gracious lady.
A committal ceremony for Terry will be held 11:15 AM, Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent, Washington.
