It is with great sadness I see that my best friend from 1st grade in Oppsal school in Oslo, Norway has passed away. I would like to extend my deepest condolances to Turid's family. I am so sorry for your loss. When I look at the photo here, I remember Turid from childhood because her face and her smile are the same as it was when we were small.. We were playing together every day from the very first day that I moved to Oppsal and through to when Turid went with her family to America. That was a sad day for me. I missed my best friend very much. In fact I never forgot her. One day she suddenly turned up unexpectedly for a visit. I think it must have been around 1972. She looked just as beautiful as I remembered her. She stayed for a few hours, and she had dinner with my parents and I. After that we lost touch. I have often looked for Turid on the internet, but I have not been able to find her until today. And I am so very sorry that I was too late. From what I read I see that she was a wonderful person, as she was as a little girl also. She was my first "best friend", and I will always remember her smile and her pony tails. I also remember Turid's mother (with beautiful long hair), her little sister Eva and her older brother Ivar, who once defended me against some older children and who became my hero.
Thank you Turid, for the bright and happy memories from childhood.
