Teresa Velez's Obituary
Teresa Velez
Teresa loved her Catholic faith. She instilled in her children the power of prayer that, as children, we stopped whatever we were doing to kneel down with her and say the rosary at precisely 6 p.m. daily. She made sure you attended Mass on Sundays and even as adults she asked you if you went to Mass. We didn't want to disappoint her and feel guilty if we didn't.
She loved dancing. She had that quirky smile when she was dancing. Even though she was using a walker, it didn't seem to stop her from dancing. That is one passion our mother had. She was a strong woman, both in strength and mind. She was not one to say anything bad about anyone. She accepted you for whoever you were. She was not a judgmental person. If you came to visit you, she would welcome you in her home and feed you. And you better eat or she would just keep reminding you to "eat, eat."
She loved her family, especially her grandchildren. They gave her a lot of joy. There was not a thing you couldn't ask her; she would not turn you down. At the end, she never complained about her illness. She couldn't thank you enough for calling her or taking her out. She apologized for being so forgetful. We reminded her that she was OK and that we suffer memory lapse as we get older and that we understood.
