Born in 1937 in Brooklyn, NY, he died July 8, 2004, in Tacoma, where he had moved with his wife Kathleen upon retiring from Long Island UniversityÂ's English department, which he left as Professor Emeritus. Among his critical work is a book on Tacoma-born author Richard Brautigan, published in a series called Writers for the 70Â's, of which he was the editor. Literature and baseball were equally important to him Â- he was a member of the editorial board of NINE: A Journal of Baseball History and Culture.Witty, opinionated, a caring and loyal friend, he was deeply attached to the NY Mets, and the Democratic Party and a generous supporter of causes he approved of. He will be profoundly missed by those who knew him. Besides his wife, he is survived by his niece Alexandra Lynch of Lafayett, CO; nephews Robert Lynch of Vertlanck, NY, and Geoffrey Lynch of Brooklyn.
