Francis "Ted" Gruber
Francis (Ted) Gruber Passed away November 5, 2011 at his home in Lakewood. Ted was born July 25, 1927 in Townsend, Montana to Edmond and Dora Gruber. Following Ted's school years, he enlisted in the US Navy. He served honorably from September 1945 until September 1952. After his Naval enlistment, Ted was employed by Gulf Oil as a machinist in Philadelphia. He also held positions with Gulf Oil at Fort Lewis, Zimbabwe, Africa and Laurel, Mississippi. He retired from Chevron Oil in 1985. In 1983 Ted married Janie Hughes. Throughout their 28 years of marriage, they traveled extensively. They made several overseas trip and also traveled in their motor home. Ted was very active in the Lakewood Elks from 1985 until his death. He held various positions within the organization. He was a trustee, chaplain, lounge manager, dunk tank operator and he did whatever else he could to better the Elks. Ted thoroughly enjoyed his hunting trips to Montana with his brothers and his nephews. He always had good stories to tell upon his return home. Preceding Ted in death were his parents, his first wife, Marge, his brothers, Bill and Donald, sister Alice and his beloved dog, Bertie. He is survived by his wife Janie, children Ed (Marge), Michelle, Michael, Marcia (Cliff), Mark (Irene), and Maureen (Reenie), grandchildren Carrie and Christopher and one great grandson, Jason, brothers Jack, Frank, Robert, and Barnie, sister, Dorothy and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00AM Saturday, November 12th at St. John Bosco Catholic church in Lakewood. Following the funeral mass, there will be a memorial service at the Lakewood Elks and then a reception immediately following the Elks service. Arrangements by Mountain View Funeral Home.
