Sylvia Laurene (Stocks) Stump's Obituary
Sylvia Laurene (Stocks) Stump, was born August 21, 1939 in Hermiston, Oregon to Louis Burton Dexter & Irene Sadie Haney, the 2nd of 4 girls.The family moved to Washington in 1942. Her Sisters who have all passed were Arlene Henderson (John), Mildred Schiffer (Roy), Diane Peck (Wellington) . Sylvia went to Park Ave Elementary, Stewart Jr. High graduating from Lincoln High School 1957 marrying her high school sweet heart Donald W. Stocks Sr. that same year. Sylvia worked for Puget Sound Bank aka Key Bank all through her senior year up to January of 1960 when she had their Son Donald W. Stocks Jr.. 18 months later they had their daughter Sherri Elizabeth July of 1961. Sylvia waited for her children to be in school full time, before she went to chase her dream which was to teach, she graduated in 73 with an A.A.S. from T.C.C., she than went to PLU graduated in 75 with her BA, she went on to graduated from Central with her M.A.1981 Magna Cum Laude.
She loved to teach which she did that for 30 years. She square danced and went on caravans with the "Bonney Lads and Lassies" dance club for 30 years. Sylvia was an avid gambler a member of the Diamond club of Harrah's, went on many cruises (Alaska, Panama Canal, Hawaii, Mexican Rivera, Western & Southern Caribbean).
Sylvia taught for 30 years and 24 of those were at Gray Middle school. She became one of the first LAP teachers in the state of Washington and received the Susan McCallie award for excellent in teaching.
In March of 2004 in her words, she met the love of her life Bill Stump. He had lost his wife in April 2003, Mom and Bill married in May 7, 2007. They did a lot of traveling and enjoyed life, until Bill's passing March 11, 2015. Mom had a mini stroke 2017 while on one of her many gambling adventures out of state, Salena her oldest grandchild went a brought her back.

Stocks III, Jodi (Preston)Hayden their children Coleman, Brooke, Landon an Vivienne, Amber (Steve)Russem their children Lilah and Zack. Sherri Nugent Loehr and her children, Salena Rice her children Thalia & Makiah, Brynn Nugent and her children Kaylin, Allison, Millie, Rilee, Rowan, Timothy S. Nugent Jr. his children Timothy S. Nugent III and Tyler. She has many Nieces Nephews local and in many across the USA .
