Sylvia Pernell, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on February 21, 2024, in Tacoma, Washington, at the age of 88. Sylvia was born on May 20, 1935, in Beatrice, Alabama, to Willie Frank Stallworth and Daisy Montgomery Stallworth. She was a devout Catholic whose faith was the guiding light of her life.
Sylvia's dedication to education was evident from an early age. She pursued her passion and earned her Master's degree in Education, a testament to her lifelong commitment to learning and teaching. For over 25 years, Sylvia poured her heart and soul into shaping young minds as a dedicated school teacher in Pierce County, leaving an indelible mark on generations of students.
Beyond her professional achievements, Sylvia's joy came from her family. She was survived by her loving daughters, Tracy and Paula. But the truest pride in Sylvia's life were her four grandchildren, who she adored deeply, and her three treasured great-grandchildren; all of whom reside in Pierce County, Washington. She cherished every moment spent with them, and her love and wisdom will forever resonate in their hearts. Sylvia is also survived by four of her nine living siblings, who reside in the southeastern United States. Though separated by distance, Sylvia remained close to her siblings throughout her life, and their bond of love and shared memories remained unbreakable.
Sylvia's faith was the cornerstone of her life, and she was deeply involved in her Visitation Catholic Church community. Her unwavering devotion and kindness touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting legacy of compassion and service.
Though Sylvia has departed from this world, her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and devotion that will be cherished for generations to come.
A funeral service to celebrate Sylvia's life will be held at Visitation Catholic Church on March 2, 2024 at 9:00am, where friends and family will gather to honor her memory and share stories of her remarkable life.
Sylvia Pernell's legacy will forever shine brightly, illuminating the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her. May she rest in eternal peace, reunited with her heavenly Father, and may her spirit continue to guide and inspire us all.
