Sylvia Nystrom Erickson's Obituary
Sylvia Nystrom Erickson Beloved mother, grandmother, and sister passed away on December 27, 2002. Sylvia was born in Reliance, Washington on June 22, 1917 to Swedish immigrant parents. She was the fourth of six children. She grew up in Alder and moved to Tacoma after her father passed away. She attended Eatonville, Lincoln, and Stadium High Schools. After SylviaÂ's marriage to George, they moved to Lacamas where they lived for over 60 years. Sylvia was active in Lacamas and Roy community affairs. She worked on the Lacamas County Fair, was a Lecturer in the Roy Grange, and held various posts in the Rebekah Lodge. Sylvia was a wonderful cook and was especially known for her breads, cookies, and pies. In fact, she often won prizes for her baked goods which came as no surprise to her family and friends. Sylvia was the heart of our family. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, wife, and homemaker. We remember the many special ways she showed her love for her family. But Sylvia also cared about things outside her family. She was active in the Democratic Second District Club for many years and served as a precinct committee-person. She was a responsible citizen who stayed current on government actions and never neglected to vote. She also worked on the election board as an inspector and judge. Sylvia was a blessing to her family. She is survived by her daughters, Lenore Bailey, Gena Erickson, Christina Trosper and husband Rick, Linda Emoto and husband Jerry; daughter-in-law Kathy Erickson, grandchildren; Diane, Gretchen Lee, Amy, Gretchen Lenore, Kirsten, Justin, Katie, and Ellie; sister Ruth and husband Kaore, and great-grandchildren, David, Ryan, Mark, Kurt, and Anna. Mom and Grandma, thank you. You are missed. Sylvia was preceded in death by her son John, her husband George, and her granddaughter Lisa. Memorial contributions may be made in SylviaÂ's name to the Tacoma Rescue Mission or to a charity of choice. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 3, 2003 at 1:00 P.M. in the Celebration of Life Building, Mt. View, Tacoma.
