Sylvia Jane Thomsen's Obituary
Sylvia Jane Thomsen
Music was her life, music was her joy. Sylvia went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, August 3, 2009. She passed away peacefully with her husband by her side after a courageous 5 year battle with Ovarian cancer. Sylvia was blessed with a wonderful musical talent and a marvelous singing voice. She conducted several choirs, as well as sang with numerous choral groups, including the "Clef Dwellers". Her pride and joy was a 70 voice choir in Indio California. She was very active in hiking and water activities, but her favorite was voyage cruising with many trips to Hawaii. Sylvia retired from the Tacoma School District as a secretary and finished her career out at Central School District. She is survived by her loving husband Denton (Bud) Thomsen, by her daughter's Ingrid Gay (Charles) and Gretchen Martinson, and her son, John Martinson (Debbie); 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; stepchildren Tim Thomson (Sally), Janet Oliver (Larry), Bob Thomsen (Pam), Mike Thomsen (Lisa), 10 step grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren. She has gone home to join Parents; Charles and Martha Throssell, sisters; Merle Patchell and Marie Harrison, brother; Charles Throssell and her son Greg Martinson. All family and friends are welcome to the viewing scheduled for Sunday August 9, 2009 from 3-5 PM at Mountain View Funeral Home. Memorial service will be held on Monday August 10, 2009 at 1:00 PM in the Valley Chapel at Mountain View. A special thanks goes out to Manor Care and hospice, we couldn't have walked through this process without them. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Franciscan Hospice.
