Sylvia Grah's Obituary
Sylvia (Faye) Grah nee Bense born May 26, 1926 to Arnold and Elsie Bense in rural Campbell Hill Illinois and passed away July 3, 2022 in Tacoma Washington. She is survived by her husband Jack Grah. She is also survived by her children Karen Forbush, Roger (Patricia) Grah, Jackie (Daryl) Dunnegan, Vanessa (Dan) Pollock, Elizabeth (Kelly) Carlson, Jeff (Jolee) Grah, Wes (Kari) Grah, She is survived by 16 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, daughter Marcie, granddaughter Shawn, great grandson Stephan, 5 brothers and 2 sisters. She was 1 of 13 children born to Arnold and Elsie Bense and is survived by 4 of them.
She moved to Washington State when Jack was hired by Northwest Orient Airlines. His job later took the family to Minnesota. We returned to Washington a couple of years after that where she lived the remainder of her life.
Faye joined Zion Lutheran Church in 1958 and was active in the church. She was a member of the Ladies Aid organization and Lutheran Women's Missionary League. Along with church activities, she was active in the Mary Bridge Children's Hospital Orthopedic Guild, cooked dinner for senior citizens at the church, helped with Toys for Tots for over 20 years and was an active bowler. With all her activities, she still had time to help Jack raise 8 children.
Graveside service will be on Thursday, July 14th at 10:00am at Mt. View Cemetery in Lakewood Washington. Memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 14th at 2:00pm at Zion Lutheran Church in Tacoma WA.
