Sylvia was a gift to this earth and I consider myself blessed to have been her sister and friend. An elegant and caring woman, who was always in my life and I am forever grateful for all that we shared.
We made so many memories that I cherish, from trips to Mud Mountain Dam and 5 Mile Lake when I was a child, a crazy trip to California and when I was older, I managed to coerce her into going dancing and shopping for cool clothes. We dressed up to the nines, sipped our drinks and checked out the hot guys at Maxis.
She loved to take fun western photos and we even made saloon girl Halloween costumes, those were fun days! We worked together and would wear them on Halloween, what a treat for the customers, eh?! We dressed up as cow girls and frontier women for Fair Days at work too. We had so many good times. I remember her surprise when we almost got stampeded by the beanie baby craze, Holy stuffie..that was a crazy time.
She loved Star Trek and had the best time being in a Star Trek "movie" at Universal Studios with her 2 children, Anthony and Nicole. She once gave me a Christmas ornament of the Enterprise that lit up and it hangs on the tree every year.
A lover of jewelry, especially unique stones, she knew what would be a hit before everyone else and I will never look at a chocolate diamond or pink tourmaline again without thinking of her and smiling.
Though I moved several hundreds of miles away, I was fortunate enough to be able to visit several times and when she met my husband (my fiance at the time) she said he was a "keeper" so I married him! I am so glad they got to meet and hit it off right away. We had a lot of fun visiting her, sharing cooking tips over scrambled egg sandwiches and constantly giving each other copies of Mom's recipes as we both could not seem to keep them safe! I will miss those times terribly.
Sylvia was very intelligent and was successful in retail and retail management for many years, while raising her two wonderful children, I take my hat off to her as that is no small accomplishment. She loved her children and grandchildren and I cannot count the hours we spent taking about them and their antics, and it was those times that I felt her deep happiness and pride in them.
Sylvia, my beautiful sister and friend, you were called home too soon and it is still hard to believe you are gone and I will never hear your voice or your laugh or see the sparkle in your eyes again. I miss you.
