Susan "Sue" Kathleen Bailey's Obituary
Susan (Crowther) Bailey, of Lakewood, Washington, passed away on May 7, 2024 at the age of 50 while bravely battling breast cancer. She was born October 1, 1973 in Framingham, Massachusetts to Kathleen and James Crowther. She attended Westfield State College and attained a bachelor’s degree in Political Science in 1995 and a Masters of Arts in Public Administration from Framingham State University in 1998. While in college, she met her future husband, Christopher Bailey; they were married in December 1997. During their military service in the Army, they lived in nine different states – Massachusetts, Tennessee, Virginia, Florida, Utah, Oklahoma, Colorado, North Carolina, Washington State and overseas in The Netherlands.
She poured all of her energy into her family, supporting Chris in his military duties and holding down the home front during numerous overseas deployments. Wherever they lived, she built a home filled with warmth and love. Her greatest joy was in their four beautiful children – Ashley, Abigail, Carson and Amanda. She was immensely proud of them and never missed an opportunity to cheer them on in their numerous academic pursuits, sports and other activities. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, crafting, and traveling. She loved the beach, playing bingo and other games, HGTV, and all things Pioneer Woman and Disney. She will be remembered as an adoring mother and wife.
Susan is preceded in death by her father, James.
She is survived by her husband of 26 years, U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel (retired) Christopher Bailey and their children, Ashley (a student at Ithaca College in New York), Abigail (a student at Western Governors University), Carson, (a senior at Lakes High School in Lakewood, WA) and Amanda (an 8th grader at Hudtloff Middle School in Lakewood, WA).
She is also survived by her mother, Kathleen Crowther of Saint Augustine, Florida; brother, Michael Crowther of Marshfield, Massachusetts; nieces, Morgan and Madison Crowther; aunt Sandra Brundage of Salem, Massachusetts; cousins Kimberly Brundage of Boston, Massachusetts and Marci Brundage of Braintree, Massachusetts; mother and father-in-law, Cynthia and Lonnie Bailey of Gate, Oklahoma; sister and brother-in-law, Erin and Thomas Jones of Gate, Oklahoma; brother and sister-in-law, Kristyn and Micah Bailey and their children Piper, Micah, Tyson and Nora of Cardiff by the Sea, California; and sister and brother-in-law, Shannon and Jason Gordan and their children Olivia, Gabriel and Camilla of Chula Vista, California. She will be lovingly remembered by numerous other family members and friends.
