Obituary for Steven Leroy Weideman
Steven Leroy Weideman, 73, passed away on September 24, 2025, in Lakewood, Washington, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on November 24, 1951, in Williston, North Dakota, Steven was the son of Doran and Ramona Weideman. He spent his early years in Williston before moving with his parents and sister, Connie, to Spanaway, Washington, where the family took over The Perky Pot restaurant. He graduated from Clover Park High School in 1969.
After briefly attending college, Steven joined the United States Air Force Reserve, serving as a jet engine mechanic before transitioning to flight engineer in 1973. During his service, he continued working at the family restaurant, demonstrating his lifelong commitment to hard work and responsibility.
In 1979, Steven began a 34-year career at Boeing. Starting as a tool maker, he later transitioned to the flight line as a delivery mechanic and eventually became a lead mechanic overseeing new aircraft delivery with his own crew. He retired in 2013 after decades of dedicated service.
Steven met his wife, Pong, in 1980, and they married on October 9, 1982. He lovingly embraced her two young sons, Robert and William, as his own. In 1987, Steven and Pong purchased Sandy’s Flowershop, later renaming it Lakewood Florist. For 30 years, they ran the business together, with Steven often working a full shift at Boeing before heading to the shop to ensure everything ran smoothly.
A man of deep faith, Steven served faithfully in his church as a Sunday School teacher, deacon, worship guitarist, evangelism leader, and early morning prayer servant. His life was marked by humility, generosity, and joyful service to others.
Steven enjoyed motorcycles, firearms, RC car racing, and aviation. A licensed pilot, he devoted countless hours to building his own airplane. In retirement, he found joy in golfing with his wife and spending time with his family.
Steven is survived by his wife of 42 years, Pong; his sons Robert (Amy) and William (Linda); and his four cherished grandchildren: Asher, Emery, Isaiah, and Ilana. He is also survived by niece (Kimberly), nephews (Matthew, Keith, and Patrick), and extended family who loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his father, Doran, mother, Ramona, and sister, Connie.
Steven was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather (Papa). His kindness, humor, and unwavering love for his family will be forever remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing him.
He will be deeply missed, but his legacy of faith, love, and dedication will continue to live on through the lives he touched.
