Steven L. Burke Retired MSGT.
Steve L. Burke of Lakewood, WA. passed away on August 14, 2010. He was born in Fulton, MO May 10, 1960. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1978 and shortly after married his high school sweetheart Missy (Brown) Burke on May 26, 1978. Steve had an amazing Air Force career as a munitions safety expert. He retired in 1999. He then started his second career with Civil Service as a Munitions Weapons Safety Manager at McChord Air Force Base. He was always recognized as one of the best. Steve was preceded in death by his father Earl Burke, sister Donna Nolin, and son-in-law Jason Hickman, who was killed in Jan. 2010 in Afghanistan. Steve is survived by his wife of 32 years, Missy, son Jeremy, daughter Tiffany Hickman (Jason), son Shawn (Jen), mother Erna, brother Colen (Ester), brother Tim (Denise), grandchildren Zacharia Burke, Hayden Hickman, Landon Hickman, Clayton Hickman, and Taylor Burke, 7 nieces, 4 nephews, and many friends. Steve loved working with wood, hunting, fishing, and his family. He will be missed by all. Memorial service is 11am Friday August 27, 2010 at McChord Air Force Base Chapel. Graveside service is 2:15pm at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA. Donations may be made to the Autism Society. IYAAYAS
