Steven C. Kasemeier Sr.'s Obituary
Steven was born to Marv and Esther Kasemeier in Tacoma, WA on March 27, 1952. As the youngest son, he grew up with three siblings: his two older brothers, Marv-II and Brad, and his younger sister, Konni. They were raised in a house full of love and adventure that included camping, fishing, and a real passion for sports. He followed in his father’s and brothers’ footsteps, excelling in all the sports that he loved and enjoyed. In 1970, he graduated from Clover Park High School in Lakewood, WA. He married his high school sweetheart, Denise, and together they raised their two amazing children, Steven Jr. and Korey.
During his long military career, Steven initially enlisted in the United States Air Force as an avionics maintenance technician on B-52 bombers. After completing his initial commitment to the USAF, he completed his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration at Central Washington University in Ellensburg, WA. He then resumed his career with the USAF flying B-52s as a radar-navigator and ultimately became a Strategic Weapons School Instructor. He also participated in Desert Storm and the ensuing conflicts in the middle east. Upon his return home, he was honored in a parade and ceremony with George Bush Sr and Marshall Jimmy Stewart. He completed a very distinguished career, receiving many honors, including the Curtis E. Lemay award for the “Best Crew in SAC,” and retiring from the Air Force as a Major in 1993 in Rapid City, SD.
After his military career, he became an owner-operator for Swift Trucking where he was a long-haul driver. During his travels in Knoxville, TN, Steven met his current wife, Chong, and they were married on April 23, 2000. He welcomed her three wonderful children, Lisa, Robert, and Jessica, into his family and raised them as his own. They continued to live in Knoxville for a few years before moving to Gig Harbor, WA, in 2004. It is during this time that he went on to become an entrepreneur, fulfilling his long-time dream of owning and running his own business. For many years, they owned and operated a coffee stand in Lakewood, WA. They eventually moved on to owning and operating their own tavern for nearly ten years before retiring.
Steven had a passion for adventure, fun, and humor throughout his life. He always had a story to share and enjoying bringing light and laughter to those around him.
