I only today found out about Steve's illness and untimely passing and wanted to send my heartfelt condolences. I never met Steve, but we corresponded---vigorously!--via e-mail regarding our mutual passion for Madonna memorabilia. He bought things from me, we outbid each other on items and we recently had exchanged very lively e-mails about a classic "collecting coup gone awry." He was a terrifically funny correspondent, smart and unlike many fans of all types of things, he never had the need to say "I'm a fan, but I'm not one of THOSE CRAZY fans," because it was obvious from his demeanor that he was just a nice, regular person who enjoyed indulging in collecting things that gave him pleasure, and who took pleasure from the very act of collecting itself. I want to send my best wishes to Steve's family. If I can help in any way let me know. So sorry again to hear about this so long after the fact. My best, Matthew Rettenmund, [email protected].##imported-begin##Matthew Rettenmund##imported-end##
Oh man - I've only just seen that Steven has passed away! I'm in total shock! I used to write to him regarding collecting Madonna items - he'd even set up a page for me on his website.
My sincerest condolences to his family - he was a lovely guy who had time for everyone and the generosity to match.
He'll be dearly missed amongst the Madonna collector community.##imported-begin##Tony Barton##imported-end##
I was so saddened by the news of Steves passing on. I wanted to visit with him again before he left. Steve was a friend and a co-worker for many years at the city and I will miss his smile and his friendship. He always had my respects as a knowlegeable horticulturist and music officianado. Thanks Steve "Lord" Nelson, for being my friend.##imported-begin##Mark Braverman##imported-end##
We will all miss you Steve, and MY heart goes out to YOU and your family.
The world has lost good person and the Madonna community has lost one of it's biggest collectors.
I will ALWAYS remember you even though you were from the other side of the world.

I was so upset to hear this bad news, I have been a friend of Steve's through Madonna chats and trades and although i never got to meet him, i knew he was the most honest man I could have ever talked to and know. Words can't describe how i feel about this news as i am so upset, but glad to read that he went peacefully. My heart goes out to the family and his memory will always be with me. thank you Steve for all you have done and i am honored that i was lucky enough to have got to know you. love always Sharon##imported-begin##Sharon##imported-end##
