It's over now! I have fought a great fight! I have finished my course! I am free I am at my new address. I'm in Heaven.
Sterling departed this life on October 16, 2017 at St. Joseph Medical Center, Tacoma, Washington at 11:05 a.m. with his daughters Ann and Bettye and granddaughter Terry near his side. He will be greatly missed. He leaves to mourn his passing; two biological daughter, Ann (Jerry) Bailey, Kent, Washington, Bettye (Richard) Turner-Swazer, University Place, Washington, six grandchildren, Terry Dejohnette-Wade, Tacoma, Washington, Tracey Yvette Currenton, Renton, Washington, James Carroll, Jr., Vancouver, Washington, Kenyatta Ge'ne Carroll, Federal Way, Washington, Jamaine Elliot Carroll, California and Adizzah Bettye Mahaley Halleuah Mahamah, San Francisco, California. Twenty-two great Grandchildren, eleven great, great, grandchildren, one great grand decesased, Cortez E. Kingston DeJohnette and one great, great grand deceased Maya Carroll. A special nephew Robert (Carolyn) Smith, Shreveport, Louisiana, a special niece Linda Reed and nephew Larry Reed of Reno, Nevada and Oakland, California. One sister-in-law Philmon Reed-Taylor, Oklahoma City out of thirteen, a host of other relatives and friends which are numbered like sand on the beach. "The flowers withers but the seed remains" To God be the Glory! for "this is the day that the Lord has made, we will rejoice in it."
Final resting place, Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches, Texas.
