Stephen Joseph Nolan 2-27-1933 - 4-5-2008 Born in Monero, New Mexico. Died in Tacoma, Washington. Retired Warehouseman for Nalley's Fine Foods. Served 2 terms in the United States Marine Corps, Sergeant. Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. Life Member of VFW #969. Stephen married Virginia on October 27, 1967. They were both members of Southside Baptist Church in Tacoma for many years. Steve is preceded in death by 5 children, 10 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. Children James L. Calhoun, Brian J. Calhoun, Catherine L. White, Rebecca L. Nolan, Stephen W. Nolan; grandchildren Jeremy J. Calhoun, Jacob E. Dean, Jenette G. Conner, Jowell L. Calhoun, Kearsten L. Redding, Kandice L. Redding, Venessa J. Calhoun, Brandon J. Escobar, James F. Calhoun, Joshua J. Calhoun; great grandchildren Ashley M. Dean, Brandy J. Dean, Armond L. Calhoun. He also has 2 sisters, and many loving nieces and nephews. One especially wonderful niece, Denise Merdich, of Federal Way that looked over Steve's care after Virginia died on August 27, 2007. Services will be held on April 8, 1:00 pm in the Garden Chapel at Mountain View Funeral Home, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd. SW, Lakewood. Reception at Southside Baptist Church, 626 S 86th St, Tacoma 98444; following the graveside, Honors with the 21 gun salute.
