Stella R. Miller's Obituary
Together Again
Stella R. Miller was born in South Gibson, Pennsylvania on January 6, 1923 and passed away peacefully on September 27, 2022.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Gloria Lindstrom and Karen Bernoux (Denis). Two grandchildren, Charlie Pinchak (Kelli) and Jenni Pinchak (Ron). Two greatgrandchildren, Abbey and Blaine Pinchak. Nieces - Patty, Mary, Delores, Beverly, Carolyn, Bonnie, Debbie, Ellen, Maureen, Joneen and nephews - Bill, David, Greg, Jeff, Paul, Jr.
She was preceded in death by her loving, devoted husband of 64 years, Chuck Miller. Four brothers, Mike, John, Harry and Sammy Rudick; four sisters, Ann Shaika, Ina Brong, Mary Allen and Kathryn Satunas.
A chance meant-to-be encounter led Stella to meet a handsome soldier named Chuck in Philadelphia as he was being deployed overseas during World War 2. They became engaged through the mail and married once the war was over. Chuck brought his young bride across the country to Tacoma, where they spent many happy years in the same home he built after the war. The home was a beacon to family, neighbors and friends. Last minute drop-in dinner guests were always welcome to share a meal and join in the camaraderie around the kitchen table.
Stella loved Hawaii and she and Chuck spent many happy years there vacationing. She loved to walk the beach in the morning and finish with a dip in the ocean before heading back to the condo and poolside sunbathing (complete with a tasty Bloody Mary).
Boating and camping in the San Juan Islands and Puget Sound were also favorite past times filled with amazing memories with friends and family. A memorable boat trip up the Columbia River in 1957 was highlighted by the orbiting Russian Sputnik.
Stella was the consummate Mom, raising her family in a loving home with a gentle hand. She and Chuck were wonderful parents, grandparents and loyal friends to many.
We celebrate Stella’s 99 years and are comforted that she and Chuck are together again.
The family would also like to extend their sincere gratitude to Nadia Dzyk and her staff at the Bethany Adult Family home where Stella resided for the past 6 years for providing a loving, safe and nurturing environment.
A celebration of Stella’s life will be held on Sunday, October 16, 2022 at 1 o’clock at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church located at 1315 North Stevens Street, Tacoma, Washington 98406.
