Stanley Gordon Smyth's Obituary
Stanley G. SmythMay 6, 1928 Â- March 11, 2004 Stanley was born in Tacoma, and attended Stadium High School. He joined the Marine Corps in 1945. In 1949 he became a Tacoma Police Officer. He served his city for 25 years, as a motorcycle officer, a detective, and various other positions, until his retirement as a Lieutenant. Stan also was a member of the Civil Air Patrol, and retired from there as a Major. He continued his love of flying as a flight instructor for both Clover Park and Tacoma Narrows Airport. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Dorothy; daughter Lisa (Jason) Thompson, daughter Kimmie, son Rex (Becky), 6 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. A viewing will be held on Monday, March 15, 2004 from 1-9PM at Mt. View Funeral Home. Services will be held on Tuesday, March 16, 2004 at 1:00 PM in the Mt. View Valley Chapel. Tacoma Police Department Honor Guard will be presiding at the service.
