Stanley C. Carlson Of Lakewood, WA, born on June 30, 1927 in Seattle, WA to the late Anna and Axel Carlson, passed away peacefully at age 90 on April 18, 2018 in Lakewood. Stan grew up in Yelm, WA, and loved his childhood memories of tap dancing and fishing. In 1946 Stan attended the University of Puget Sound, where he met his future wife Gweneth (Roberts). They continued school together at the University of Oregon, where they graduated in 1950. That same year they married and lived in several cities due to his early work at BF Goodrich, cities like Yakima and Aberdeen, WA, where they had their first two children, Brett and Claudia. They settled down in Lakewood, WA in 1958 when they had their 3rd child, Stephen. Stanley started his true passion and career in financial consultation that year at Merrill Lynch in Tacoma, where he stayed for 27 years until his retirement in 1991. Stanley proudly served in the Navy from 1945 to 1947 in World War II. Stan and Gwen had an amazing 66 years together before her death, traveling the world together, often with their close group of friends, collecting memories, friendships, art, and just living it up! Stanley was close to his community and loved his involvement with Gyro/Cascade Club, The Tacoma Art Museum, and The Country Club. Stan was preceded in death by his wife Gweneth, and his sisters Ruth and Berget. Stanley is survived by his sons Brett and Stephen, daughter Claudia, son-in-law CA, daughter-in-law Monica, grandchildren Sierra, Dylan, Micah, Sean, Alexander, and Cassidy, and closest friend Natalie Humphrey, with whom he spent his final years in loving company and friendship. A memorial service will be held for friends and family on Friday, June 1, at 4:00 p.m. at Little Church on the Prairie in Lakewood, WA. Following that, there will be a celebration of his life at 5:00 p.m. at Tacoma Golf and Country Club.
