Solveig Borgny Peterson Aug. 16, 1923 - Jan. 1 2013
Solveig passed away peacefully January 1, 2013. She was born August 16, 1923 in Hoquim, WA., to parents Anton and Sigrid Nerhem.
The family moved to Tacoma when Solly was a young girl. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1942. Many of her high school friends remained close to Solly throughout her life. After graduation, Solly met Ernest Peterson through mutual friends. They were married in Tacoma on February 24, 1946.
Solly had varied interests and hobbies. She was talented in sewing, knitting and crocheting. She enjoyed walking, reading and traveling. Solly traveled with family and friends throughout the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii, and into Canada. She took several cruises and visited many national parks. The trip that Solly enjoyed the most was to Norway, to visit relatives and see her parents birthplace.
Solly stayed involved with her friends for as long as her health allowed. She always enjoyed meeting new people. Solly was devoted to her family. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Solly is preceded in death by her beloved spouse, Ernie. She is survived by her sons, Marvin (Carol) Peterson, of Hillsboro, OR. and Roland (Jeanette) Peterson, of Tacoma; her granddaughter, Reann Parker, of Tacoma, and grandson, Phillip (Becky) Parker, of Tacoma, great-granddaughters, Rosalee Parker and Emily Parker, sister, Ardis (Bruce) Budbill, of Vaughn, WA; numerous nieces and nephews and life long friend, Michael Hayes, of Tacoma.
Services will be held at 1:00pm January 11, 2013 in the Mountain View Aspen Chapel.
