Sidney W. O'Hare's Obituary
Sidney W. O’Hare
On May 10, 2017, after a long battle with colon cancer our Dad, Sidney O’Hare finally was set free to “Go to Glory”. Although he was dealing with excruciating pain he never faltered in his faith and was truly at peace when he passed.
Born in Everett, Washington in 1937 he graduated from Everett High School in 1955. While working on a cousin’s farm in Wisconsin he accepted Jesus Christ as his savior. His faith became the driving force and purpose of his life. Later that year he joined the Marine Corps and served four years.
After his military service Sid attended Washington State University where he met his first wife Katherine (Kay). They were married in 1961 and had three children. In between children and while working Dad went on to complete his education at Pacific Lutheran University graduating in 1971 with a Bachelors of Business. He had various jobs in the accounting field and retired from the WA State Dept of Revenue.
Sid and Kay were Charter members of Olympic View Baptist Church, established in 1972. He had a beautiful voice and loved singing, esp. hymns! He was a great Bible teacher and invested hours in helping others grow in their faith. He was faithful in visiting those in the hospital or shut-ins. He loved to garden and always had a beautiful yard.
In 2006 Sid met Jeanne Morris and was blessed with another decade of marital bliss. They enjoyed cruising and dancing and were members of the Manhattan Dance Club where Dad was treasurer for 10 years.
Sid is survived by his brother, Jerold O’Hare; 3 children, Laura (Joe) Devine, Colleen (Bob) Giebelhaus and Ryan (Mary) O’Hare; 7 grandchildren and 2 great-granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 44 years, Kay, and second wife of 10 years, Jeanne.
A service celebrating Sid’s life will be held on Monday, May 15 at 3:00 at Olympic View Baptist Church, 4707 Elwood Drive W., University Place 98466.
