Shon Lee Smith's Obituary
Shon Lee Smith, a resident of Tacoma, Washington passed away on Thursday May 15th, 2014. He was 43 years old.
He was born in Bellflower, California on January 26th, 1971 and raised in Downey, California. While attending Warren High School, he was a cadet with the Downey Police Department. Upon graduation, he worked as a dispatcher for the Downey PD. A third generation police officer, he joined the Bell Gardens Police Department (CA) in 2001 and transferred to the Federal Way Police Department (WA) in 2004. Even as a child he wanted to be a police officer – it was his calling. He had amazing instincts – he lived to serve and protect. In short, he was a dedicated police officer, an avid ice hockey fan, a gifted fisherman, a gun smith artisan, and loved his candy almost as much as his family.
He is survived by Pearl, the woman he spent the last 19 years with, and her daughter Lauren, who he could not have loved more than if she had been his own; his parents Susan and Lee Smith; his brother Shane Smith and his sister-in-law Lori; his Grandmother Jackie Montgomery; his uncle Mark Montgomery; his aunts Danetta (Beaver) Rutten and Tami Montgomery; his cousins Bill Rutten, Mike Rutten, Tim Smith and Stacie Montgomery; his nephew Colton Aslett; and his nieces Tristyn and Makenna Smith.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Wounded Warriors.
