Shirley Roberts' Obituary
Shirley Marie (McLeod) Roberts, was born March 11, 1935 to Murdock and Dorothy (Goerger) McLeod in Tacoma, WA. She passed away on November 10, 2011.
Shirley went to Park Ave Grade School, Stewart Jr. High and graduated from Lincoln High School in June 1953.
Shirley has been active all her life. She roller skated many years at the Tacoma Roller Bowl as well as worked there. She was active in Campfire Girls along with girls softball as her 2 daughters were growing up. She was the #1 baseball and football supporter for her son. She served as President, Grand American Flag Bearer and Grand Deputy of the U.C.C of E, #26. She was also a Life Member, 50+ member and Past Worthy Matron of Ivy Chapter #43, O.E.S. along with serving as Secretary for several years. She also served as Deputy Instructor of Grand Chapter O.E.S., Past Guardian of Bethel #23 Jobs Daughters, Past Mother Advisor of White Clover #78, Rainbow for Girls and received the Grand Cross of Colors in 1978 for her outstanding service to the Order and the many Grand Assembly committees she worked on.
She was preceded in death by her father Murdock, mother Dorothy, special sister-in-law, Patricia McLeod and Grandson, Scott Nelson Roberts. She left behind a family she truly loved and lived each day for. 2 Daughters, Lori (Lee) Wilson, Jodi Snipes and Son, Barry (Paula) Roberts. Grandsons, Joshua, Brian, Nathan and Bradly. Grandaughters, Samantha, Stephanie and Cassandra. Greatgrand children, Breaunna, Ralph III, Peyton and Abigail. Her brother Donald McLeod, 2 nieces, Tammi and Sheri and their families.
Mom has lived in a Sr. Apt complex -Å"Sunset Garden- in Puyallup since November 2001. Many of the residence were very special to her and she considered them as her extended family. She was the happiest when she was helping others, whether it be taking them to Dr. Appointments, grocery store, bank or where every they needed to go. She also loved to share her decorations and many other talents with everyone. She has crocheted over 1000 lap robes for nursing homes and hospital cancer patients.
Mom will be very missed by her family and all of her many friends.
Graveside services will be held at Mt. View Cemetery on November 22nd at 3pm. Please meet at the Forest Room in the main office at 2:45. Time of sharing to follow at Daughter, Lori's home.
