Shirley Mae Neifer's Obituary
Born on Feb 24, 1951, a 32 year resident of Oak Harbor passed away suddenly on December 12, 2005 at her home in Lakewood, WA. Shirley was the first of three children born to John and Irene Pittman in Oak Harbor; she was a 1969 Oak Harbor graduate. Shirley was employed by Melco until 1983, when the military transferred her and husband Richard to Spanaway, WA. They then transferred to Baumholder, Germany in 1987. While in Europe she traveled to Austria and explored many sights, and was a librarian for the Department of Defense during her stay. In 1990 Richard and Shirley returned to Lakewood, WA to make their permanent home. Shirley was a long time volunteer at the Lakewood V.A. Hospital, Police Services Department. Shirley is survived by her loving husband, Richard, of 23 years; her father, John Pittman, of Clearfield, PA; and sister, Kathryn Walker (Lee), of Oak Harbor; nieces Shannon McGuiness (Jeff) of Sumner, WA, Wendy Wilson (Phil) of California City, CA, Kristine Holberg (Donald) of Puyallup, WA; and nephews Johnathan and Shawn Walker, both of Oak Harbor. She is also survived by great nieces and nephews Andrew, Olivia, Ryan, and Julie. Shirley was preceded in death by her brother Brian and mother Irene. To all the lives that Shirley touched she will be greatly missed. Internment will be held at a later date.
