Shirley Kline's Obituary
Shirley Ann Winters Kline was born on Jan. 30, 1935 in Pottsville, PA and departed this life on Feb. 9, 2025 in Lacey, WA at the age of 90 years old. Shirley graduated from Pottsville High School in 1952, married her high school sweetheart John Kline on Jun. 12, 1954 and continued to live in Pottsville raising their two sons Kevin and Greg until the family relocated to Puyallup, WA in 1977.
After moving to WA State, Shirley was an avid bowler and later in life she remained active as a member of the local YMCA for many years where she enjoyed yoga and aerobics classes and developed many friendships.
Shirley was a dutiful daughter, faithful wife, loving mother, devoted grandmother and generous friend. She was preceded in death by her father Alonzo Winters, brother George Winters, step-father Harold Orf and mother Winifred Llewellyn Winters Orf. She is survived by her husband of over 70 years, John Kline, sons, daughters-in-law and grandchildren, Kevin, Lisa and Kaylin Kline, and Greg, Connie, Drew and Dawson Kline, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the many medical professionals, care staff and social workers who cared for Shirley and supported the family in her final weeks, including those at MultiCare Good Samaritan and MultiCare Auburn hospitals, Canterbury House Rehab, Serene Manor Adult Family Home and Assured Hospice.
Friends and family are invited to share remembrances of Shirley at an informal memorial gathering scheduled from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, Monday Feb. 24, 2025, to be held at Mountain View Memorial Park Garden Chapel, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd, Lakewood, WA.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations in Shirley’s name be made to the YMCA of Pierce & Kitsap County at https://www.ymcapkc.org/possible to support health and fitness programs for older adults.
