Shirley Mae Cosme's Obituary
Shirley Mae Cosme was a woman to admire. She was a doting wife, loving mother, devoted grandmother, and a valued sister. Of all those roles, the most important was the caring and invaluable friendship that she gave openly to those around her.
Shirley was born to Steven and Nellie Herbst on November 4, 1939 in the small town of Park Falls, Wisconsin. At the prime age of 76, she passed away from unforeseen complications on December 11, 2015 in Lakewood, Washington. Shirley was survived by her husband of 37 years, Albert E. Cosme. She had three remarkable sons; Stephen, Richard, and Michael. Her husband Albert, known by family as Earl, had three children of his own; Rozanne, Theresa, and Bob. Together, Shirley and Earl combined their families and soon had an abundance of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each one loved unconditionally.
Shirley was one of the first women to be employed at the Paper Mill in Tacoma, WA. She worked hard to support her family and later retired after many years of service. Shirley was known for her annual Christmas parties, which she held to bring all of the family together. She always made sure to make every person feel included, even though that meant wrapping presents into the night, it was what she loved. Bingo, Seahawks, Reno, gardening, cooking, and spending time with friends and family were just a few of the activities Shirley enjoyed. More than anything, she loved football. She and Earl were dedicated Seahawks fans and could always be found sitting in their charter seats on game day.
She lived, she loved, and she left an impact on us all. Her life was brimming with love and laughter, and because of that, she will be profoundly missed and forever in our hearts.
