Supt. Sherman Davis, after a long illness, passed away on Sunday, June 27, 2010 at the age of 79. The Memorial service will be held Saturday, July 3, 2010 at The COGIC Headquarters - 9201 Pacific Avenue - 11:00 am (viewing 9-11). He served as pastor of the Altheimer Memorial Church of God in Christ for 28 years. He grew up and received his formal education in Memphis, Tennessee. In 1952, while serving in the armed service as a Medical Corpsman, he was called to the ministry. He was ordained to the gospel ministry in 1954 by the late Bishop A.B. McEwen. Supt. In 1990, the Sherman Davis, Jr. Scholarship fund was organized in his honor. The young people of Altheimer Memorial Church have been the benefactors to encourage them to receive that first college degree.

Davis, Sr. (Mary), Wylie Davis (Glenda), Sol DiaEze, Jeremiah Davis, 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, family and friends whose lives are richer because he lived.
