Sharon "Shari" Cecile Wagar's Obituary
Sharon “Shari” Cecile Wagar
April 14, 1937 - April 12, 2024
Sharon Cecile Wagar, a cherished beacon of faith and love, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2024, just shy of her 87th birthday. Born in Tacoma, WA, to Cecil and Edna Scott, Shari's life was a testament to her enduring faith and commitment to her family, church, and community.
Shari spent her formative years in Walla Walla, WA, before attending the University of Washington, where she majored in Music. It was here that she met her lifelong love, Jim Wagar. Together, they embarked on a journey filled with love, faith, and adventure, starting their family in Seattle, WA. Shari's role as a devoted wife was evident as she supported Jim's career, leading them to vibrant locales such as Puerto Rico and Miami, Florida, before eventually settling in San Francisco and later Southern California.
In California, Shari played an integral role in their business, Tri-Way Movers, where she managed the international division. Her grace and hospitality shone as she hosted clients and expertly managed complex relocations. After selling their business in 1994, Shari and Jim returned to Washington, setting roots in Lacey, where they enjoyed boating, RV'ing, family gatherings and active church involvement.
Shari's love for music, particularly singing and playing the piano, was matched only by her dedication to studying the Bible and participating in church activities. She was a natural hostess, whose home was always open to friends and family, enriching every gathering with joy and warmth.
Predeceased by her beloved husband, Jim, in 2013, and a grandson, Scott Rekawek, in 2018, Shari's legacy continues through her daughters, Terri Rekawek, Lauri "Kris" O'Bannon, and Lisa "Doug" Drainville; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In her later years, Shari found joy in traveling with her daughters and cherished her final years at Fieldstone Memory Care, where she was adored for her gentle spirit and respected for her dignified presence.
A memorial service celebrating Shari's life will be held on May 9th, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. in the Aspen Chapel at Mountain View Cemetery, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd SW, Lakewood, WA 98499. At 3:30 p.m., Shari’s graveside service will take place in Garden Baby Land. A reception will follow at the Aspen Chapel Celebration of Life Center. For inquiries, please call (253) 948-9895. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to "Operation Blessing," a Christian organization that provides children around the world with hunger relief, clean water, and medical care, reflecting Shari's lifelong commitment to community and faith. Donations can be made at https://www.ob.org/donate.
Shari's life was a beautiful symphony of love, service, and devotion. She will be profoundly missed by all who were blessed to know her.
Isaiah 40:28-31
Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might, He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall, but those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.
