Sharon Nell's Obituary
Rose "Sharon" (Matthews) Nell passed away peacefully, just months after her beloved husband, John "Jack" Nell.
Sharon was born in Morton, WA and was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a lifelong partner to Jack. She worked for decades at Lakeview Light and Power, served as treasurer for the Gig Harbor Eagles, and officer/bookkeeper for the Minter Beach Association. A trailblazer, she became the first woman Commodore of the Totem Yacht Club, where she and Jack were lifelong members and for 12 years lived on their boat at Pleasurecraft Marina.
A creative soul, Sharon loved making custom greeting cards for family and friends, and her enduring love of the color purple reflected her vibrant spirit. Above all, she cherished her family and the beauty of her home in Gig Harbor.
She is survived by her brother, Michael (Ellen) Matthews; son, Tony Pettingill; daughter, Dodie (Daniel) Kritner; grandchildren Shantra (Jess) Moore, Chad (Nathan) Pettingill, Kyle (Caroline) Pettingill, and Sean Egolf; and great-grandchildren Adeline, Theodore, and Phoebe. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; daughter, Anne Marie Nell; son, Gary Pettingill; and grandson, Drew Egolf.
May her journey be painted in purple skies, where she and Jack sail together once more.
Celebration of Life will be on Friday, October 17 at Mountain View Funeral Home, Lakewood at 10 a.m.
