Sharon L. Koch's Obituary
Sharon L. (Burmark) Koch, born May 16, 1948 in Tacoma, WA, went to be with the Lord on April 22, 2019. After graduating from Wilson High School and WWSU, Sharon accepted a teaching opportunity in Forks, WA as an elementary school reading specialist. There she met her beloved Greg. She returned to teach in the Tacoma area where they married January 8, 1977.
Sharon was very kind, soft hearted, and found joy in the little things. She enjoyed gardening, riding bikes, canning, and attending music concerts in the park. She made the Koch house an inviting home that was the hub of the neighborhood. She hosted dinner parties for family and friends. She was passionate about teaching, and took special interest in tutoring those who needed additional help. She was creative, generating her own teaching materials and games, which she shared when volunteering at other schools. She loved crafts and took part in craft fairs. Sharon was a loving mother, taking her kids to school, sports games, grandma’s house, parks, zoos, playgrounds, or any place for a picnic.
She is survived by her husband Gregory Koch, children, Stephanie Kizer (Michael) and Matthew Koch (Mallory), brother Bob Burmark (Marilyn), sister Beverly Burmark, and grandson Joshua Kizer. She was predeceased by her parents, Norman and Margaret Burmark.
A special thanks to the staff at Alaska Gardens rehab for eight years of loving care.
