I had the privilege of working alongside Sharon in her reading class and witnessing her gift firsthand. She was, without question, one of the finest teachers I have ever known.
Teaching kindergarten is no small feat, yet Sharon did it with grace, humor, and heart. She taught far more than letters and sounds—she taught children how to carry themselves in the world. Her words, that I lovingly called, “Sharonisms,” were lessons wrapped in warmth and wisdom, delivered in a voice children trusted and remembered.
Her love for the fine arts was evident in her classroom for it moved like music - full of rhythm, patience, and compassion. She taught far more than letters and sounds; she taught children how to listen, how to grow, and how to become their best selves.
Her expectations were high, her lessons intentional, and her influence everlasting. After more than 40 years in education, I still carry what I learned from Sharon taking much of her style into my own classroom. One thing I know for certain, Sharon’s melody lives on in the lives she shaped, and her legacy will continue to echo—softly, beautifully…and forever.
