Sharee Alanette Daniels' Obituary
Sharee Alanette Daniels was born to Martha Locke and Michael Daniels on March 13, 1979 in Seattle, WA. Sharee attended T.T. Minor pre-school in Seattle. In 1984 Martha and Sharee moved to Tacoma, WA and in 1985 Martha married Ron Stephens who became a dad to Sharee.
Sharee was baptized as an infant at The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd and confirmed in December 1993. She sang in the youth choir and at special events. She was always happy to teach vacation bible school where she brought her military expertise and displayed her exceptional dancing skills doing the moonwalk to “The B.I.B.L.E.” Sharee worshipped faithfully and when unable to physically attend she participated in bible study in her home with Pastor Steve Olsen. During the pandemic Sharee attended worship service through zoom.
Sharee attended Boze elementary school through 5th grade, and Concordia Lutheran-Tacoma 6th through 8th where she ran track. She attended Foss High School, sang in the choir, and played basketball and soccer, she excelled in both sports. Sharee’s high school graduation in 1997 surprised and elated her family as she sang the national anthem. After graduation she attended the University of Washington in Seattle for one year.
Sharee was an “old soul”. She enjoyed spending time with her grandmothers. At a young age she was a serious, gifted communicator. She could hold a conversation with anyone, any age, naturally inquisitive, she always had questions as she listened intently.
In 1998 Sharee decided to enlist in the army completing basic training in North Carolina (Ft. Bragg). She served 7 years in the army reserves. During her tour she was stationed for one year in Bosnia in communications. Sharee shared many stories of her time in Bosnia.
While in the military Sharee was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). She didn’t let her diagnosis slow her down. She loved to travel. Sharee and her cousins Ruselle and Racine were on their way to New York City on 9/11/2001. Their airplane was re-routed to Buffalo after the twin towers were struck in New York. They ended up spending time at Niagara Falls until they were able to catch a train back to Seattle. Sharee traveled to Hawaii, Mexico and many locations in the U.S. She was very connected to her family and attended many family picnics and reunions. Most recently 2023’s Tillman family reunion in Washington D.C. accompanied by her caregiver and close friend Lanell Kidd who was an amazing support and friend to Sharee.
Sharee participated in sporting events through Special Olympics. Also, the 28th Annual Veterans Wheelchair Games where she won 3 gold medals and 1 silver medal. And, she went speed skiing in Aspen!
With the Veterans Administration (VA) Sharee participated in studies focused on research for the disabled, including technology for wheelchair patients and in-home accommodations through voice technology.
Sharee loved music. As a child she thought she was Michael Jackson and loved singing “say It loud, I’m black and I’m brown”. She had a powerful voice and appreciation for music. She sang in the VA choir and recorded with the choir. She recorded her CD “Vulnerable” with support from her brother Kyle and father Michael. She loved attending concerts and organized gatherings at Jazz Alley and Benaroya Hall.
Sharee was employed at the Westin Building as a security guard followed by Benaroya Hall, where she met many entertainers. She loved that job but had to terminate due to her MS. She decided to pursue a career in real estate. She studied, took the exams and passed. She became a licensed realtor at Keller Williams. Sharee shined, this was her calling.
Sharee was a very independent, wise woman. She did not shy away from help when needed. With the support of the Veterans Administration, she was able to organize what was needed for daily living in her home. She loved and looked forward to the weekend “lunch crew” of family, Ava, Kareen, Danielle, Rion, Savina, Quiana, Ruselle, Ron Jr., Rich, and Michael (and the aunts when needed). This gave them special time to share conversation on books, movies, concerts, cooking shows, sports, Christianity and all the things she loved. Sharee always had suggestions on books to read and shows to watch and on your next visit she’d ask your opinion.
This spring brought special occasions that Sharee celebrated; a delightful gathering of Caribbean cuisine hosted by Rich and Andrea, Martha’s birthday celebration of Brazilian cuisine, Savina’s birthday celebration of Barbeque cuisine and Sharee’s 45th birthday celebration “Carnival” cuisine hosted by Sharee in her home!
Sharee was called to her rest on Sunday morning April 28th. She was an extraordinary example of courage, faith and love. She is survived by her parents; Michael and Rene Daniels, Ron and Martha Stephens, grandparents; Harriette Moore and Danny Moore (Pops), siblings; Felecia Johnson (Keven), Kiesha Sweet, Kyle Daniels, Iman Burks, Aunjoli Pierre, Danielle Green (Tyler), Ron Stephens Jr. and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and loving friends.
