Segia Ioane (January 10 1962 - February 7 2026)
Segia Ioane, famously known as “mommy,” beloved daughter, sister, wife, and devoted mother was born on January 10, 1962. She is the seventh child of nine children, to the late Reverend Ioane Lefatia and mother, Telesia Auva’a raised in the villages of Ili’ili, Sa’ilele, and Falealupo, Savai’i. Segia began her high school education with Fa’asaō High School and ultimately graduated from Samoana High School her last year. She then pursued higher education, thus completing her BA in Special Education attending University of Hawai’i at Mānoa.
As she specialized in special education, Segia dedicated more than 30 years of her life working for the American Samoa Department of Education (ASDOE), specifically assisting the needs of staff in the SPED division. She had been a prominent figure in faithfully serving staff, parents, and students all while created a lasting impact in their lives.
Segia was a woman of deep and unwavering Catholic faith, where in most cases praying the ‘rosary’ becomes her anchor of guidance and solitude in times of hardship, anxiety, sadness, or joy. She was a member of the St. Paul VI Parish in Iliili, American Samoa. She has devoted her time, effort, and support for the church and still continued to do so until she passed away on February 07, 2026. She was a very quiet and private person, yet her boldness and straightforward nature reflected the strength of her character. She loved music, singing, reading, and loved being surrounded by family and friends, and mostly her dearest beloved sisters. As she would never get tired of talking on the phone for HOURS. Segia a widow, married the love of her life, Faamaona Suai Tuiā together built a life filled with love, faith, and many cherished memories. They are now one in heaven in God’s loving arms. Segia Ioane is survived by her two children Andrew Ioane and Adonica Meafou Tuia, each held closest to her heart.
Segia will be remembered for her strength, wisdom, faith, and the love she shared with her family and all who knew her. Her legacy of kindness, dedication, and quiet resilience will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
