Sean Lamont James' Obituary
Sean Lamont James, 38, of Lakewood, WA died at 12:32 p.m. on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma, WA after battling stomach cancer. Sean was born on July 7, 1977 to the union of Samuel L. and Judith Ann James at Fort Leonard Wood Army post hospital in Missouri where they both were stationed. Sean lost his father at age 7. Later on, Sean was cared for by his maternal grandparents, Tylos and Augusta Jackson in Richmond, CA while his mother served in Korea. They were a big influence in Sean’s life. Returning stateside, his mother was stationed at Fort Lewis Army post and lived in Spanaway, WA with Sean while he finished his education in the Bethel School District and until Judith’s retirement from military service. Judith later met and married Sean’s stepfather, Gregory Clough. Sean worked with Gregory learning to install handrail systems. Sean would later go on to enroll in Pierce College seeking to earn a degree in Accounting. Sean was certainly a dreamer and on several occasions would tell you about the many ideas that he had thought up concerning inventions and different ways of becoming financially wealthy followed by “You see what I’m saying?” In the past few years, he had begun and was successfully operating a moving business called Moving On Up. He had a contagious smile. During his life, Sean was blessed with 3 children whom he loved very much – a son, Jamizga and 2 daughters, Karma and Ziann (aka the “Heartbreakers”) - all of Tacoma, WA. Sean was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel L. and Judith James-Clough, and his paternal grandfather, Tylos Jackson, Sr. Along with his 3 children, he leaves to cherish his memory his maternal grandmother, Augusta Jackson (Richmond, CA); his stepfather and stepmother, Gregory and Mary Clough (Tacoma WA); 5 sisters – Faye Powell , Sonya James-Stanley and Sherlynn James (all of Savannah, GA); Sharese James and Sheila James (both of Atlanta, GA) and 1 brother – Samuel “Marty” James (of Savannah, GA), 1 step-brother – Preston Johnson of Puyallup, WA; 2 step-sisters – Tinesa Johnson of Renton, WA and Sheila Clough of Sacramento, CA; Lynda Thomas (adoptive grandmother of his daughters); lifelong friends Berlie Fincham and Marcus Holman, and a host of many, many close family members and friends.
