Scott F. Robinson's Obituary
Scott Fredrick Robinson was born to Rachel (Bartich) and William "Robbie" Robinson at Madigan Army Hospital October 23, 1951. His first 10 years were spent moving around many Army Bases in Germany and across the United States. In 1961, Robbie retired to Steilacoom WA where Scott formed many lasting friendships, completed his middle school (Pioneer) and high school education (Lakes 1970). Immediately after graduation, Scott entered the US Coast Guard, where he served for four years, including a tour in Viet Nam.
After his discharge, Scott returned to Steilacoom/Lakewood. Scott used the training he received in the Coast Guard to apply to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA); he began his career in 1975. Scott retired from the agency 32 years later, spending the majority of his career in the Pacific Northwest minus a 2-year stint at Honolulu Center. Scott was known for his attention to details, management skills, ability to trouble-shoot mechanical issues and his approachability. He was proud of his service to his country in the Coast Guard and as a Federal Employee.
In his personal life Scott married Mikel Ann Thomas on November 3, 1978; he was Dad to Jessica and Jack (JB), Deda (grandpa) to Brennan, Mackenzie, Jordan and honorary Deda/Grandpa Scott to numerous young people he "collected" throughout his life. Scott was an involved Dad, volunteering at Church and becoming a Boy Scout leader who guided many young men to the Rank of Eagle Scout. He was a mentor to many young people and adults. Scott was known for his love of cars (and occasional lead foot!), annual motorcycle trips with the "Mild Hogs", being "Mr.Fix-it" for friends and family and his always present coffee cup.
Scott loved driving (truck, car, motorcycle, boat...) and enjoyed plotting the route as much as the trip itself. After his retirement he was always willing to help with projects, but they usually took longer than expected due to his extensive repertoire of "Sea Stories" that he loved to share--complete with hand gestures! He was blessed with a mechanical mind and the gift of gab!
Scott passed away at home on June 22, 2025, from a rare condition, MSA (Multiple Systems Atrophy), due to exposure to Agent Orange. He had a number of devoted Caregivers that enabled him to be at home, including his daughter of choice, Francine Sumrell, who was there every day.
Scott is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mikel Ann, daughter Jessica (Joe Woodruff), and son, Jack - JB (Amy), grandchildren, Brennan Simmons, Mackenzie and Jordan Robinson, brother, Patrick Brennan (AZ), niece, Nicole West (Dave) - Nathan and Sarah Stalker and nephew, Nick Weitman (Porshia) - Ikale, Ikyllies, Izekiel. He was predeceased by his parents, Robbie and Rachel Robinson, sister Toni Weitman, and brother, Jack Robinson (5/5/25).
