Scott Alan Cahill's Obituary
Scott Alan Cahill died unexpectedly on January 19, 2023. Scott, or Scotty, as he was known to his mom and sisters, was born on February 10, 1984 in Puyallup, WA to Melinda Moore and Ronald Cahill. Scotty was passionate about his dogs, the great outdoors, silly socks, his family and friends and especially about being an uncle to Ava and Audrey.
After graduating from high school in 2002, and to the chagrin of his mom, Scotty decided to forego a traditional college route and enlisted in the US Coast Guard, graduating from basic training at the USCG Training Center in Cape May, NJ. During his service in the USCG, he also earned a bachelor’s degree from Oregon State University. After his service to the USCG, Scott decided to pursue a degree from the University of Washington School of Law, providing additional and irrefutable evidence that he was always smarter than the rest of us combined. With his Juris Doctor degree in hand, Scott joined the U.S. General Services Administration as a Contracting Officer for the Multiple Award Schedule and Assisted Acquisition Services.
Scotty was, though, much more than the sum of his many accomplishments. He was really really funny with a large side of sarcasm. He was deeply sensitive. He was a foodie, researching the best kitchen gadgets and recipes and then changing them to make them even better. He spent years titrating various combinations of ingredients and heating water to the exact degree to make the most perfect cup of coffee. Scotty was a superfan of the show Survivor and loved discussing the current drama and strategies with his sister, Liz, and his friends. He loved music and was always looking for special edition vinyls for his favorite artists whose music he not only enjoyed, but challenged him emotionally. He deeply loved his bull terrier Bela and later, after Bela passed, he rescued another beloved bully, Ms. Noodles. He had a goofy, infectious giggle and would dissolve into laughter watching his nieces and Ms. Noodles chase each other around the yard or beach. He loved fishing and hiking in the Pacific Northwest. He was a steadfast and loyal friend, always there for them in good times and bad.
Scott is survived by his mom, Melinda Moore; his dad, Ron Cahill (Hamina); his sisters Elizabeth Cahill (Charles Dworetz) and Paige Brotherton (Dave Stenger); his nieces, Ava And Audrey Stenger; Step-Sister Leilani Polk (Duncan) and Children; step-brother John David Cox (Bobbi) and daughter; and many very dear friends.
