Sarah Pauline Jezek's Obituary
Pauline (Sloan) Jezek
Pauline (Sloan) Jezek was born in Lonetree, North Dakota to Edward and Roxanne Sloan on June 17, 1924. She grew up in North Dakota with her younger siblings Juanita, Edward, and Richard, all of whom preceded her in death. She died peacefully at the age of 87 on February 7, 2012. Pauline moved to Tacoma shortly after her graduation in 1942, since jobs in her home town were scarce. Her sister, brothers, and mother eventually followed her to the Puget Sound area. Pauline found work as a grocery checker at Safeway, and was later promoted to night manager. She met and married another grocer, Robert "Bud" Jezek, and together they ran Bud's Food Center in south Tacoma until their retirement in 1987. Pauline will be remembered for her friendliness, sense of humor, and intelligence. She loved to spend time with her family, gardening, reading, cooking, and enjoying the companionship of her dogs. Pauline is survived by her son Robert (Monica), daughter Karen, grandchildren Jason (Mayumi) Palmer, Robbie (Kim) Jezek, Caitlin Jezek, and Alex Shimkus, and great-grandson Kigen Palmer. In addition to her parents and siblings, Pauline was preceded in death by her husband Bud and son Richard. Services will be held at Mountain View Garden Chapel in Tacoma, WA at 12:00 on Saturday, February 18th, 2012. Donations are suggested in Pauline's memory to Gene & Irene Wockner Hospice Center in Kirkland, WA, where she was taken excellent care of in her last few days.
