On Thursday, December 29th, 2022, Sandra Kay Kemp (née Monroe), loving daughter, sister, cousin and friend passed away at the age of 53.
Sandra was born on May 21st 1969 in Demopolis, Alabama to Nonah Monroe and Julius Carter. Monroes are not few in number in Marengo County but Sandra's place was very special. As the firstborn surrounded mainly by brothers, Sandra was always up for a game of kickball or a foot race. As she grew older her brothers came to know her as "Supervisor K". This was a name she earned because she wasn't afraid to give her advice or opinion. It may not have been asked for but it was what you needed.
Sandra loved to cook, read, and dance. Many happy occasions were spent enjoying her Rotel dip, potato salad and sweet potato pies. As a very fashionable lady Sandra could often be found curled up with the latest copy of Ebony or Jet. She would dress to the nines, was never afraid of a camera and many photos were taken of and by her. Dancing was another favorite pastime, she knew how to move an have a good time especially if Keith Washington was playing.
Change came to Sandra's life in 2013. It was then that she left her home in Alabama and along with her mother joined family in Washington state. Happy to be among her brothers again and her precious nieces and nephew, Sandra thrived in her new location. Her move was a fresh start and one that brought new love into her life when she met her dear Bryant whom she spent four beautiful years with.
At an early age Sandra began her relationship with Christ and she continued her service to him and to others throughout her life. Hard work and helping others was a passion. In her most recent position in a rehabilitation facility she aided the recovery of those most in need. She made friends wherever she went and had many good times and long lasting friendships with her coworkers. They knew her as sassy, kind, loving and never afraid to tell it like it is, everyone adored Sandra. she greeted whomever she encountered and always could bring a smile to your face. If Ms. Sandra was there it was a good day.
Sandra is loved by so many and will be dearly missed but never forgotten. She was preceded in death by her father, Julius Carter. She is survived by her mother, Nonah Monroe, her beloved Bryant, her siblings, Timothy (Dorothy), Julius (Joy), Willie (Arriana), Kevin (Schawanda), Tanisha, Stephanie, and Diane, her nieces and nephews, along with numerous other family members and friends.
