Sandra Jean Boone's Obituary
After a courageous battle with cancer Sandra Jean Boone, age 68, passed away on Sunday April 3, 2016 surrounded by her family. She was born January 18, 1948 in Seattle WA to Francis and Marietta Poe and was the eldest of their two children. She grew up in Burien and graduated from Evergreen High School and simultaneously married Richard Boone in the spring of 1966 in Seattle, Washington. They resided in Tacoma, WA and together had daughters Shari, Kelli, and Traci.
Sandy spent much of her younger adult life staying home with the girls, but eventually went back into the workforce and enjoyed more than 30 years at the Bethel School District Transportation Department retiring in June 2015. She loved being around family, enjoying holidays and gatherings, and especially moments with her grandchildren. She devoted much time and love to them, often going to movies, watching their soccer games, and sharing Friday night sleepovers with Luke. Sandy loved to travel, always looking forward to the family’s annual trips to Cannon Beach but most of all she loved her vacations in Disneyland. She was an avid reader of mystery novels and could often be found picking up books at the library or heading to the mall for a pretzel.
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents Marietta and Francis as well as her husband Dick of almost 40 years. She is survived by siblings Jack (LaRae), Betty, Sue (Rick), children Shari(Arnie), Kelli(Roger), and Traci(Derek), as well as seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Sandy’s life will be held Friday April 8, 2016 at 1:00 PM, LDS Parkland Ward, 11212 17th Ave E, Tacoma, WA 98445
