Sandra Ann Hacking's Obituary
Sandra Ann Hacking Ely passed away Monday evening after battling cancer for12 years. Services will be 11 am, Thursday, May 8th, at The Church of Jesus Christ ofLatter-Day Saints, 10018 Far West Drive SW, Lakewood. Viewing will be from 9:30 to10:45 am. Internment will be at Mountain View Cemetery.Sandra was born Jan. 26, 1940, in Vernal, Utah, daughter of Mildred BaileyHacking and Grant Leland Hacking. She married James Rolland Ely June 21, 1963, inthe Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They are the parents of five children, Delilah (David)Badger, David (Stacy), Deborah, Daniel (Dixie), and Roma (Spencer) Mugleston.Grandchildren are Christopher, Katherine and Elizabeth Badger, and Breanna, Caitlin,Jonathan, and Erin Ely; and Hannah and Derek Ely.She is also survived by her parents; two brothers, Brent and Douglas Hacking; and three sisters, Eleanor Scott, Marilyn Beesley and Barbara Hall.Sandra earned a masterÂ's degree in genetics from Utah State University. She taught high school math, chemistry and biology in schools in Utah, Idaho and Washington, and biology at Oklahoma State University. She became co-owner with her husband of A-1 Spray Services, Inc. in Tacoma. She retired in March 2003 as administrative support in research and development at Weyerhaeuser.SandraÂ's life centered on her family, her devoted church service, the garden and associations with friends and colleagues. She was an accomplished genealogist and speaker.Visitation and viewing will be from 6pm to 9pm on Wed.
