Samuel Williams' Obituary
Samuel Charles Williams was born on September 14, 1959, in Compton, California to Nelson and Harriet Williams. Sam was one of eight children. Although he was a Navy brat, much of his younger life was spent on 21st and Sheridan in Tacoma, Washington. He graduated from Foss High School and later attended Bates Vocational Technical College, where he studied appliance repair. Sam eventually ended his career doing maintenance work at Western State Hospital.
Sam had a passion for the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and camping. He had a natural sense of humor that brought joy and laughter to those around him. He was an avid sports fan who loved both playing and watching all kinds of games. Known for his kind heart and willingness to help people, Sam was always there to lend a hand when needed. Every time you saw Sam, he always had a big smile on his face—his infectious smile is something we will forever cherish.
Sam was a devoted and loving father to his daughter, Gabby. He was also an attentive and caring grandfather to all of his grandchildren. Gabby feels incredibly blessed to have shared 36 wonderful and unforgettable years with her father.
Sam’s love story with his wife Tina began in early 2010, and from that moment, they were inseparable. They married on February 20, 2013, and remained each other’s constant love and support. Tina remembers Sam as her shining star, a role he will forever hold in her heart.
On August 15, 2024, Sam passed away peacefully at his home in Tacoma, Washington. He leaves behind his loving wife, Tina Williams, his beloved daughter, Gabrielle Williams (Quinteze), and his cherished grandchildren Jacari, Jaleiyah, TJ, and Qiana. He is also survived by his siblings Toya Flunder (Admiral), Veronica Johnson (Robert), Schula McAuley (Anthony), Nelson Williams Jr., Trudy Tatum, Jesse Williams (Cher), along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Nelson and Harriet Williams, and his brother, Teddy Williams. He will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
