Samuel E. Achziger's Obituary
Born October 27, 1918 to Mary Elizabeth and John Adam Achziger in Tacoma, WA, where he grew up, and went to Irving and Stanley Elementary Schools, McCarver Jr. High, and Lincoln High School. In 1939 he went to work as a laborer at the ASARCO smelter. He advanced through different departments and was foreman in the fine casting department until he retired in 1978 when they started shutting down the smelter. Then he went golfing, worked in his garden, and walked his favorite companion, Max. Sam died March 12, 2006, at age 87, after a long and painful life.Sam is survived by Jean, his loving wife of almost 54 years, sons Curtis (Lucretia), Gene, David (Leanne), Scott Hunter, daughters RiseÂ' Windell (Ron) and Nancy Klinger, six grandchildren and one great-grandson. He also leaves numerous nieces, nephews, many friends and will be greatly missed. He is predeceased by his parents, sister Nathalia Lambert, brother Ben Roth, and grandson Daniel Bowlin. As per his wishes, he will be cremated and no services will be held.
