Samuel Benjamin Crawford Jr's Obituary
Samuel Benjamin Crawford, Jr was born in Mt Hermon, Louisiana on 1937 and passed away on Sunday morning, May 23, 2021 at the age of 84. He had been a long-time resident of Pierce County having discharged honorably from the Air force at Ft Lewis/McCord Air Base with Rank of Staff Sergeant. He served a total of 10 years and 9 months inclusive on one-year foreign service in Korea. He then worked for the State of Washington Dept of Licensing and Dept of Treasury and retired after approximately 29 years. He continued to work for other contracted positions for Employment Security Dept, private insurance companies in Seattle and retired from Boeing after a few short years in Project Management and Finance. He is survived by his wife Vickie after 23 years of marriage who resides in Lakewood, WA at their home. Sam had 4 children from a previous marriage, two of which preceded him in death, a son Michael and daughter Marie. His remaining two sons, Richard and Sam live in the Puget Sound area as does his 6 grandchildren and 9 great- grandchildren Sam enjoyed golfing for most of those years and played Men's baseball and coached little league. He also served as a volunteer sheriff's deputy for Lakewood for a couple of years. Sam was a long-standing member of Mt Tahoma Baptist Church and for the last 10 years, a member of First Baptist Church of Lakewood. He loved the Lord and was a faithful servant of the Lord. He participated in many of the Church activities and youth groups and served in many different capacities in the Church. Whatever he had to do in life, he did it mightily unto the Lord, as Sam understood that the Lord provided him with many blessings throughout his life and enabled him to help others in Christ name. The family has asked on his behalf that any donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Dementia charity of your choice. Burial services will be conducted in private with family only.
