Sally Carmen Aguilar's Obituary
Sally Carmen Aguilar (nee Martinez) passed away on January 10, 2024, in Tacoma, WA, at the age of 93. She was born on June 6, 1930, in Omaha, Nebraska. In 1950, Sally enlisted in the Women’s Army Corps and served as a Postal Clerk in Tokyo, Japan, during the Korean War. She was Honorably Discharged in 1953, demonstrating her dedication to her country. Following her military service, Sally met and married Louie Aguilar and later relocated to Tacoma WA in 1956 when he was stationed at Madigan Army Hospital. The family moved to Lakewood in 1960 where they made their home. She embarked on a career at Fort Lewis as a Key Punch Operator for the Army Civil Service. Through hard work and dedication, she was promoted to Computer Operator and eventually retired after 28 years of service in 1988.
Sally, a beloved sister, mother, grandmother, and friend, will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her son John, grandson Paul, sisters Beverly, Gloria, Darlene, and brother Richard. She leaves behind a legacy of love and service to her family and country.
Services to honor Sally’s life will be held at the Mountain View in Lakewood, WA, on March 27, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the Garden Chapel. The Mountain View funeral home is assisting with the arrangements.
