Ruth Ann Guien's Obituary
Ruth Ann Guien went home to be with the lord on May 5, 2024, surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy. Ruth was born July 27th, 1943, in Wynn, Arkansas and moved to Tacoma, Washington with her parents Joseph and Queen Ester Antoine, Grandmother Lucille Tatum, and sister Dolly C. Turner.
Ruth made Tacoma her home where she then worked as an Admission Receptionist at Puget Sound Hospital. She continued in her career and became a teacher at Visitation Catholic School and Sacred Heart Catholic School and later became a Court Reporter instruction at Bates Technical College where she spent over 20 years and retired from. Ruth shared her passion for teaching with many students over the years. On a Friday or Saturday night you would find Ruth down at the Caballeros club with her late husband Jim Guien who was a Mason at the club. Ruth and Jim were very stylish and enjoyed going to the Caballeros to hang out with their friends. When the DJ would play Luther Vandross Having a Party, everybody would get up and dance, however Ruth and Jim were the true steppers.
Family and friends do not cry, remember the great times we had with her in our own special way. Remember her laughter, her smile and how she would look at you over her glasses. She is no longer in pain; she went home to be with family and friends. Ruth is survived by daughter Daina Hicks-Flenoy, son Deric Williams, grandchildren Tavia Sosa, Asia Harrell, Anesia Smith, Corasia Smith, SherRhea Simmons-Tate, great-grandkids Jakai Jordan-Harrell, Quante Harrell, Ari Ferguson, Shaudon Ferguson, Staize Harrell, and Tavaeh Harrell, and additional extended family and friends. Ruth was preceded in death by her late husband Jim Guien, parents Joseph and Queen Ester Antoine, Grandmother Lucille Tatum, sister Dolly C. Turner, nieces Donna and Denise Parker, and grandson Antoine Harrell.
