Ruth Elliott's Obituary
Ruth L Elliott, 92, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 22 where she joined her husband of 51 years, Charles (Jeff) Elliott and many family and friends. Ruth leaves behind her daughters Judy Ashley and Laurel Lunden; grandchildren Kimberly Hankinson, Rebekah Reiff, Derek Lunden; great grandchildren Radek, Veronika; and their families. Born January 18, 1922, the youngest of three children Ruth was a lifelong resident of Tacoma. Graduated from Stadium High School. Worked for the phone company as a long distance operator which she loved and retired from after 30 years. She kept in contact with other retired operators for many years meeting for monthly luncheons. Ruth was a long time member of Olympic View Baptist Church and greatly enjoyed the Women’s Bible Study Fellowship. In earlier years Ruth was active in other churches where she sang in choirs, quartets, trios & duets as well as taught Sunday School and served in Women’s Ministries. Ruth lived a life of service to her family, always there to selflessly take care of others. Always there for her children and grandchildren; attending birthdays, sporting events, recitals, taking them shopping or to lunch, or just cheering them on. Always proud of them and their accomplishments; always faithfully praying for each family member. Ruth enjoyed the simple pleasures of life; a walk on the waterfront, family dinners, playing games, Sunday drives. She enjoyed the frequent road trips that she and Jeff would take along the Oregon Coast or to Canada. Ruth’s last few months were lived at University Place Care Center where she received such great care from so many truly gifted and compassionate staff members for which the family is very thankful.
[Services will be held Saturday March 29 at 10:00 AM at Mountain View Funeral Home in Lakewood.]
