Ruth Cornwall's Obituary
Born March 29, 1928 to George and Eunice Acteson in Hoquiam, WA, passed into heaven on February 10, 2013 in Tacoma, WA. Ruth graduated from Hoquiam High School then went onto the University of Washington where she graduated in 1950 from the School of Pharmacy. Ruth married her college sweetheart, Ralph Cornwall, on June 17, 1951 in Hoquiam, WA. They celebrated their 50th anniversary in June 2001 by renewing their wedding vows to each other.
Over the years they had six children and lived in a variety of places, landing in Lakewood, WA in 1971. Ruth was a long time member of the Order of Eastern Star for over 63 years. She started her membership in Hoquiam, WA and eventually transferred her membership to Tacoma Chapter #126, in the early 1970's. She served Tacoma Chapter twice as Worthy Matron and Secretary and Treasurer for 15 years. Her hobbies included sewing and quilting, counted cross-stitch, knitting, reading and working cross-word puzzles. Ruth had a love for roses and pretty gardens. She enjoyed camping with her family and especially her extended family of in-laws. Ruth also was very active in both Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts when her children were younger.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, George and Eunice Acteson, brother Phillip, grandson Shawn Cornwall and husband Ralph Cornwall. She is survived by Wayne (Suekii) of Winthrop; Charles of Seattle; James of Mountlake Terrace; Mary Healey of Tacoma; David (Debbie) of Tacoma and Nancy (Mike) Rohona of Snohomish. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at Mountain View Celebration of Life Building, Aspen Chapel on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 11:00 am. Public viewing will be from 3:00 pm 9:00 pm, Friday, February 15, 2013. Graveside service will follow the memorial service.
