Russell Odell's Obituary
Russ passed away on September 9th, 2016. He was born July 25, 1929 in Hibbing, Minnesota to Lloyd and Nora Odell. He moved with his family to Vallejo, California when he was a teenager.
He served in the army in the early 50's and was stationed in Germany. Russ worked construction for much of his career until a bad back led him to working in the warehouse for the Tacoma School District until his retirement in 1991. He enjoyed boating on the Big G Lil' O with his friends and had a passion for restoring old cars. Russ and Gloria enjoyed their retirement traveling and spending many days and weeks at their Totten Shores beach home.
Russ was a long time member of the Elks, Teamsters and Tacoma Outboard Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, sister Edith Widseth and brothers Clint and Ralph.
Russ is survived by his wife of 41 years, Gloria, stepsons Steve (Debbie), Scott (Vicki) and Shane (Lisa) who blessed him with seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at the Celebration of Life Center – Aspen Chapel, Mt. View cemetery at noon on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016 with a reception immediately following in the Oak Room.
